PROVO, Utah — Drivers through Provo noticed something they don’t see every day on Sunday – a spilled load of french fries on I-15.
The Utah Highway Patrol said that on Sunday afternoon, a truck carrying fries rolled, then spilled an entire load of boxes onto I-15, just north of Center St. in Provo.
Troopers said the driver only suffered minor injuries and no one else was hurt. The trailer’s metal frame was torn by the crash and pieces of it were hanging over a median wall.
Clean-up took some time, and for a few hours left lanes were shut down on both sides of the freeway.
At about 6:40 p.m., most of the fries were swept up by two motorized sweepers, but what was left looked to be a big grease spot on the freeway.
KSL Traffic Trooper Jeff Hall said he got a look at the big mess when he drove through it, on the way to a Father’s Day family meal.
“There were no emergency responders on the scene yet, and traffic slowed down to a standstill, so I snapped a few pictures of all the fries scattered on the freeway,” said Hall.
