PAROWAN, Utah — A man is dead after a mechanical failure started a fire in his vehicle as he was driving on I-15.
Utah Highway Patrol said around 7:25 p.m. Friday a man in his 30’s was driving his white Dodge pickup truck southbound on Interstate 15 near mile marker 82.
As he was driving, a mechanical failure under the vehicle started a fire. Troopers said the fire entered the cab, and the driver veered onto the right shoulder of the road and jumped from the burning vehicle.
The truck kept burning as it continued to move until driving through the Interstate fence and finally came to a stop in a sagebrush field, staring multiple brush fires on its path. The brush fires were all extinguished.
Troopers said witnesses attempted CPR on the driver who jumped from his truck until medical arrived and determined that he died from his traumatic injuries.
