SALT LAKE CITY — Bomb threats have been directed toward multiple Jewish institutions all over Utah. Police found no evidence that the threat was real at any of the locations threatened.
Several congregations said they received a threatening email on Sunday. President of the Congregation Brith Sholem, Janice Ward, said they received the email at 10:30 Sunday morning. The email said there was a bomb inside their Jewish center and other Jewish institutions in Utah.
Rabbi Sam Spector said the email disrupted the Congregation Kol Ami service as well and they called the police. Police evacuated both services while they looked for any threat.
The known congregations currently evacuated are the Brith Sholem Congregation in Ogden and Kol Ami in Salt Lake City.
The Salt Lake City Police Department said multiple locations received the threatening email and the investigation is ongoing. Police said they have increased patrol presence at the synagogues and Jewish Community Center in Salt Lake City.
