SALT LAKE CITY — A real estate and urban land development conference focused on a topic that affects many Utahns.

The Urban Land Institute, ULI, Utah Chapter held its annual Trends Conference today, where real estate developers gathered to discuss housing needs in the state. The conference attracts over 550 of Utah’s top business, government, and community leaders, according to the ULI webpage

As Utah continues to grow, finding solutions for sustainability, housing and security, and affordable housing is crucial.

“Is that the best use of our resources? Is it smart development? Is it adding density to strategic locations? Those are the kind of conversations that we want to have”, ULI Chairperson Robert Schmidt told KSL NewsRadio.

During the conference, real estate developers discussed sustainable types of development to accommodate Utah’s growth.

“One of the things that we’re interested in, you know is looking at best practices for equitable and sustainable land use”, said Schmidt.

Furthermore, Schmidt says they’re looking at building more housing that is accessible by mass transit.
