Rocky Mountain Power preparing for potentially strong wind storm in Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY — Meteorologists, weekend planners and the local power company are all keeping an eye out for a storm that could bring snow and strong wind to the Wasatch Front this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City said the wind could be hazardous, with the potential to reach up to 65 miles per hour.
The wind is expected to sweep across the Great Salt Lake Desert, the West Desert, southwest Utah and the Tooele Valley.
Rocky Mountain Power reminded customers to be wary of downed power lines and to treat any such power line as live and dangerous.
Additionally, customers are asked to avoid downed trees and to make sure that pets are prevented from entering any area with downed lines or trees.
