SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — The man who was accused of shooting and killing University of Utah football player Aaron Lowe has pleaded guilty to the crime.
Buk Mawut Buk now faces 15 years to life after he shot Lowe outside a party in September 2021 during an argument. Buk also shot one other person at that time. He fled the scene but was later arrested.
This comes nearly three years after that shooting left a hole in the community.

Lowe’s older brother Christopher Jackson says his family wants the gunman to spend every day in prison, thinking about the person he took from the world.
Jackson tells KSL TV that they will push the parole board for maximum time in prison.
For shooting Aaron Lowe, Buk pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder and first-degree felony attempted murder.
His sentencing is scheduled for April 29.
