CEDAR CITY, Utah — Police are investigating a double stabbing that took place in Cedar City on Friday evening.
Sgt. Justin Ludlow with the Cedar City Police Department said at around 6 p.m. police received reports of a stabbing between two individuals. The incident took place at 199 E. Canyon Commercial Dr.
Ludlow said initial reports of the incident said there was a gunshot wound. However, this was not the case.
Upon the officer’s arrival, they found the victim, a male, with stab wounds. At this point, the suspect, another male, had fled. Ludlow said the suspect also had stab wounds.
Based on Ludlow’s statement it is not clear when police made contact with the suspect. However, both the victim and suspect were treated at an area hospital for non-fatal injuries.
At this time, police are still investigating what led up to the incident. Ludlow said both the victim and suspect are in custody while police investigate.
Editor’s note: This story initially stated there was a white male suspect and a white female victim. Sgt. Ludlow has since rescinded this, stating that two males were involved in this incident.
