One teen critically injured following West Valley shooting

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — One teen was critically injured following a shooting involving three juveniles in West Valley early Sunday.
Lt. Jorgensen with the West Valley City Police Department said officers received a report of the shooting at 1:19 a.m. In this report, the victim, a teenage boy, reported being shot in the back by two suspects while driving his car. The two suspects fled before the officer’s arrival.
According to Jorgensen, the victim told police he knew the suspects involved. They are also teenagers.
Following this, the victim was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. He was aware and conscious at the time. Jorgensen said the gunshot wounds do not appear to be life-threatening.
WVCPD is currently investigating the incident. It said there is no threat to the public at this time.
