SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City continued its battle against the housing crisis by securing one of the largest amounts of funding towards affordable living to date.
The Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City and Housing Stability Division board meeting Wednesday resulted in a record $17.7 million in funding.
“Funds will go towards the construction and preservation of affordable housing developments within Salt Lake City,” said RDA communications manager Amanda Greenland.
Its goal is to develop 1,549 residential units. The RDA said It would range in size and price. Most of them will be located on the west side of the city.
“There was a big push and prioritization by the RDA board of directors to make sure there are a decent number of three and four-bedroom units being constructed,” Greenland said.
The RDA is planning on construction starting as early as this summer.
The planned housing units will sprawl from 1900 West to 1100 East.
