SALT LAKE CITY — If you commute from the west side of Utah County to Salt Lake County, you will have a new connection in two years. The Utah Department of Transportation is starting construction on a segment of the Mountain View Corridor.
Construction on this new $466 million section starts Wednesday.
UDOT’s Wyatt Woolley said through this project, the connection from 2100 North in Lehi to Porter Rockwell Boulevard will be a fully functional freeway. Currently, there’s no straight shot from the area to Salt Lake County.
“Eventually [the] Mountain View Corridor, from basically I-80 all the way down into Utah County, will be a north-south freeway, similar and parallel to I-15,” Wooley said. He said this will provide an alternate route for commuters in northwest Utah County.
Wooley said the new freeway section will greatly ease the traffic load on Redwood Road. Specifically, it will ease traffic along Utah Lake in Saratoga Springs.
Drivers should expect construction from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is expected to be finished in early 2026.
