SALT LAKE CITY — Dominion Energy is changing its name after Enbridge Gas’ acquisition, the company announced Tuesday. It’s new name: Enbridge Gas Utah.
“We’re very excited to be joining the Enbridge family of businesses and look forward to providing you with the same safe, reliable service you know,” the company said in a press release.
Enbridge Gas is a Canadian-based energy company. They’ve provided gas to Ontario, Quebec and Ohio and will now provide services to customers in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho.
In September 2023, Enbridge Inc. announced their plan to purchase three U.S.-based gas companies, The East Ohio Gas Company, Questar Gas Company and Wexpro. This move aimed to provide gas to around three million more customers.
Will this cause any major changes?
In the press release, Dominion Energy promised the transition would be “seamless” for existing Dominion Energy customers. The main change will be to the website.
They also said customers will also be notified “well in advance” if the change affects payments or account access. Customers will be notified of that through email and on their paper or online bill.
“Enbridge gas will continue [delivering] what’s important for it’s combined 6.3 million customers — the safe and reliable delivery of affordable energy,” the press release said.
