SALT LAKE CITY — A new charge has been filed against Keith Tyree McClendon, the 19-year-old man involved in a stabbing in Herriman last month.
McClendon has been charged with first-degree felony aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He is also charged with third-degree felony aggravated assault.
Both charges stem from an attack McClendon allegedly planned to take place after a high school graduation.
A 16-year-old was killed in what started as a fight between two groups.
Police records show McClendon was not the one who stabbed the 16-year-old. But he is accused of beating up another teen during the fight, who then stabbed the 16-year-old.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill announced the charges on Thursday.
