Layton shooting leaves one dead, one injured

LAYTON, Utah — One person is dead and another wounded in a shooting in Layton.

According to Sgt. Beavers with with the Layton Police Department, police received a call around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday evening with reports of of shots fired. The incident took place in the area of 527 E. Kirk St.

Police located a man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds who was transported to a local hospital. Additionally. an adult male was discovered in the backyard who had been killed.

“No one’s been taken a custody at this point as we’re still in the beginning phases of the investigation,” said Sgt. Beavers. 

Authorities do not think there is any danger to the public.
