FREMONT, Utah — Officials in Sevier County have confirmed that a youth group from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was hiking in Sevier County when they were struck by lightning.
The group was hiking south of the Fremont Junction near the Willow Springs overlook in the eastern part of Sevier County. After a light rain began falling, puddles of water accumulated on the ground. Lightning then hit the ground next to the group.

Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis told KSL NewsRadio that five patients were transported by ambulance to Gunnison Hospital and Sevier Valley Hospital.
