Supreme Court rules cities can ban homeless people from sleeping outside

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that cities can enforce bans on homeless people sleeping outside, overturning a decision from the 9th Circuit Court.
This ruling was decided in a 6-3 decision. The justices in the majority determined that a ban on outdoor camping does not amount to cruel and unusual punishment.
According to the Associated Press, Grants Pass v. Johnson is the “most significant” case on this subject to be seen by SCOTUS in decades.
AP reports the number of Americans without a “permanent place to live” is rising.
