SALT LAKE CITY — A new cemetery for veterans is coming in the fall of next year to Cedar City in southern Utah.
The Southern Utah National Cemetery will accommodate almost 15,000 veterans and their families. It will be the first national cemetery in Utah south of Provo.
The project is part of the National Cemetery Administration’s rural initiative to provide burial access and honorary services for veterans in underserved areas.
There’s also a Veterans Affairs clinic and center on South Dixie Drive in St. George, serving 9,800 vets, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The VA operates 155 U.S. national cemeteries and 34 soldiers lots and monument sites.
Other information regarding VA burial benefits including flags, headstones and markers is provided by the National Cemetery Administration.
