SALT LAKE CITY — It’s football season and while we’re all focused on the Utes, the Cougs, and the Aggies… Brace yourself.

The NFL kickoff is next Thursday, which means we get a second season of the Taylor Swift Soap Opera. Are you ready for it?

When we last left our world-conquering heroine, she was on the field at the Super Bowl locked in a passionate embrace with her burly boyfriend. He raised the Lombardi Trophy. She raised hopes of a summertime engagement that was not to be. And as their love deepens the NFL season begins with new drama — for Taylor’s bestie Brittany.

The wife of Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been clicking “like” on posts from Donald Trump, to the utter horror of die-hard Swifties. They know that deep in her heart, the willowy songstress is likely Team Kamala.

Will the friendship with Brittany endure the harsh reality of election-year politics? Will Taylor endorse Kamala? And will you be completely sick of this soap opera by October?

Wait, wait. It gets worse.

Yesterday, Patrick Mahomes casually mentioned that Swift is really into football, asks a lot of questions, and has been drawing up plays for the Chiefs. Mahomes says ‘we’ll have to try one this season’. So, after Swift dominated last year from the start to Superbowl, I have to ask, are you ready for some football?

Or… are you ready for season two of the Real Housewives of Kansas City?
