Can the new Salt Lake Bees stadium attract an MLB team?

DAYBREAK, Utah — A high-ranking developer said a new stadium in Daybreak won’t just be good for the Salt Lake Bees and their fans, but could actually increase our chances of landing an MLB team.
Larry H. Miller Real Estate President Brad Holmes said he thinks the Bees’ stadium and the development around it could set a new standard for triple-A baseball.
“We’ve always wanted to put our best foot forward. We’ve always operated the Bees as a world-class organization,” said Holmes.
He said the team is well-supported and that the Miller family have been great team owners.
“When you get this chance to come out here and invest hundreds of millions of dollars, then you really want to do it right. We think this sets a new standard for baseball parks and Triple-A baseball,” said Holmes.
The field includes field-level suites, club spaces, and many attractions around the stadium. Holmes said you don’t see those things in many Major League Parks.
“It’s definitely a chance for us to say we’re here … We love Major League Baseball and we want to be a part of the equation moving forward,” said Holmes.
The timeline for an MLB expansion is still pretty cloudy. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has only said he wants to add an Eastern and a Western team before he steps down in 2029.
