MILLCREEK, Utah — Some Utah brides went to pick up their wedding dresses after a Millcreek fire threatened their special days, and their reunion was tearful but filled with joy.

A week ago, an apartment complex under construction went up in flames, threatening and damaging nearby businesses. City officials said the fire did more damage than just burning down the apartment complex.

One of the businesses damaged from the Millcreek fire was an alterations company, Jung Alterations. Jung Alterations was working on a few brides’ dresses when the fire took place.

After a week of not knowing the status of their wedding dresses, Jung Alterations reached out for brides to come and take a look.

KSL NewsRadio went to the scene to see how a few brides are handling the destruction from the fire. Some of the dresses are said to have smoke and water damage and even though the dresses are intact, the brides’ aren’t sure if they are salvageable for the big day.

Jung Park, the owner of Jung Alterations, was thrilled to see some of the brides back to claim their beloved wedding dresses. In a tearful reunion with Park, one bride was overcome with emotion to find her wedding dress intact.

“When I got the call from her [Park], and read the articles the property manager was really worried about her and her business,” she said. “You can replace a dress but you can’t replace her.”

Each of the brides interviewed was filled with emotion when receiving their dress but they all had one thing in common: they said nothing could replace Jung Alterations after the Millcreek fire.

Jung’s was just was one of the many businesses damaged by the fire that took down a portion of Millcreek’s newly planned city center.

Meanwhile, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by fire authorities.
