Salt Lake records hottest month since records began 147 years ago

SALT LAKE CITY — It’s official. July was the hottest month ever recorded at Salt Lake City International Airport.
Salt Lake averaged a steamy 85.7 degrees over the past month, which is the highest recorded temperature since records started in 1874. The previous hottest month record was set in July of 2017 where the temperature averaged out at 85.3 at Salt Lake City International Airport. These temperatures come after a month when we tied the all-time record high of 107 degrees at the airport.

We are in store for some relief from the heat though. KSL Meteorologist Grant Weyman says August temperatures should be below normal, at least to start the week. Storms stick around on Monday and Tuesday, with the chance for even more rainfall in some areas.

But the sun will come back out and temperatures will heat up to the mid to low 90s for the next 7 days.
