Police credited with saving life of stabbing victim in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — Police officers responding to the scene of a stabbing early Saturday morning in Salt Lake City likely saved the life of the victim, authorities said. 

According to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Lisa Pascadlo, dispatchers received a call reporting a man bleeding just before 7 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived on the scene near North Temple and 1000 West, they found a victim with a serious stabbing wound and jumped into action. 

“Our officers arrived and actually found the male had a significant stab wound to a lower extremity,” Pascadlo said. “They kind of took him and ran, as we say in the business, for medical attention.”

Pascadlo said rescuers took the victim, approximately 30 years old, to the hospital in critical but stable condition. Police believe the victim knows his attacker, but said because of the injury he was not able to communicate with him. They hope to learn more once they can speak with him.
