SALT LAKE CITY — If you haven’t made the return trip home from Christmas yet, you make want to reconsider your travel plans over the next 24-48 hours. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) out of Salt Lake City, another winter storm is on its way to Utah, and will make a mess of the highways by time the Monday evening commute rolls around.

The NWS reports that this cold winter storm will impact much of Utah and southwest Wyoming. With the incoming storm, snow will start out in the northern mountains. The cold front with the accompanying snow band will push through northern Utah Monday evening.

In addition to motorists along the Wasatch Front, the NWS also says drivers on I-15 near Cove Fort and Black Ridge Canyon could face difficult driving conditions.

The NWS also warns for the possibility of lake-effect snow for portions of Salt Lake and Davis counties starting Monday night into Tuesday morning.

The NWS also expects there to be hazardous driving conditions in all of Utah mountains from Monday afternoon into Tuesday.

Snow along SR-9 through Zion National Park will likely create difficult driving conditions Monday night.

Many parts of the Wasatch Front can expect to receive anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of snow from this storm, according to the NWS. The snow totals will be much greater in the mountains.
