WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Two teenagers were taken into custody Friday evening after they allegedly fired gun shots at a vehicle earlier in the day.
According to West Valley City police, the incident happened 3325 South 3200 West at 3 p.m. Officials point out this shooting is not related to the shooting last week that claimed the lives of two teenagers.
Police say the driver, in an attempt to avoid the shots, crashed the car and it jumped the curb. Police also say the driver was not injured. However, there is a possible connection between the suspects and the driver.
Following the incident, the suspects dropped the gun as they fled the scene. However, the gun has yet to be recovered, police say. Authorities have a search dog in the area searching for the weapon.
After a brief search, the suspects, ages 15 and 16, were found hiding in the back yard of a residence.
The two teens were booked for investigation of firing a weapon/assault, according to police.
