SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The Summit County Sheriff’s Office issued a public safety alert Friday after they say a man contacted them about having an adverse reaction after smoking marijuana.

The man told the deputies that he had bought the marijuana locally. After conducting a test on the marijuana, deputies believe it was laced with Fentanyl. Which is a synthetic opioid that is highly potent in small amounts. Authorities say it can be lethal if ingested.

With the cooperation of the victim, deputies from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office were able to arrest in the case. A 25-year-old man from Summit County was taken into custody in connection to drug possession and distribution charges.

As part of the public safety alert, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office is asking residence to talk to their children about the importance of not using illegal street drugs.
