LOGAN, Utah — A new webpage from Utah State University Extension seeks to give people financial resources to deal with high inflation.

“This website provides a central location of our resources so users will have quick access to the help they need,” said Amanda Christensen, USU Extension professor and accredited financial counselor.

U.S. inflation just hit a 40-year-high in June, reaching 9.1%. USU Extension said that in Utah, inflation has added $700 to $800 more in monthly spending for a “typical” family of four — compared to last year.

“This is a challenging time for consumers,” said Melanie Jewkes, USU Extension professor. “Inflation seems to be most noticeable at the gas pump and grocery store, and consumers are having to change the way they spend to accommodate the surging costs.”

USU Extension said it created the inflation resources webpage in order to help people navigate rising costs.

Resources include a guidebook on cutting expenses, links to financial tools and a section answering common financial questions. Links to other USU Extension resources about free family acitivies and estate planning are also included.

The webpage also offers a calendar listing free inflation webinars.

“We hope these resources will benefit Utahns, who we know to be resilient and resourceful during tough economic times,” Christensen said.

USU Extension said it would continue to add resources to the webpage as they become available.
