Blanket fort history – you can help Utah break a record today

LEHI, Utah — A world record attempt is underway in Lehi. The plan is to break a Guinness World Record by building the largest blanket fort in history.
Currently, the record stands in Portland, OR at nearly 6,800 square feet. Although Utah’s goal is to beat the Portland record, they will follow in Portland’s footsteps by donating all the blankets.
The group will give the blankets to local shelters and those experiencing homelessness after an expected 10,000 square foot blanket is created.
Tacos Together is attempting to break the record. And they’re teaming up with Real Salt Lake in order to make a young boy in the Make-A-Wish Utah foundation a part of the fun.
The child is fighting leukemia and is expected to place the last, record-breaking, blanket onto the fort.
The event is free to all those who donate a blanket, and there will be free food too. Anybody is welcome to help build the giant blanket fort today, Sept. 15, at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
