Three schools in Tooele went into lockdown Tuesday afternoon

TOOELE, Utah — Police in Tooele are looking for an armed robbery suspect that forced three schools into lockdown on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Lt. Jeremy Hansen, with the Tooele Police Department, an armed robbery occurred at Sandy’s Gifts and More at 12:33 p.m. The suspect was last seen heading westbound.

Due to the close proximity of the schools, authorities notified Tooele County School District. In turn, the district put Tooele High School, Tooele Junior High School and Northlake Elementary on lockdown. The lockdown was issued out of an abundance of caution, according to a Facebook post by Tooele Police. 

The lockdowns were lifted at the end of the school day. Furthermore, police say they do not believe there is a threat to the public.

Another lockdown

The Granite School District says Granger High School was placed on lockdown protocol by police for a time on Tuesday, as police investigated a student.

However, the district later announced on Twitter that there was no truth to the possible threat.
