CEDAR CITY, Utah — The Iron County Sheriff’s Office arrested six people connected to a pair of drive-by shootings in February.

According to a press release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Garrian Perkins, 18, Gabriel Monzon, 18, Miguel Cruz, 18. Matthew Lucero, 19, Cadena Gerardo, 19, and an unnamed 17-year-old were taken into custody Tuesday.

They are considered suspects in drive-by shootings on Feb. 12 and Feb. 28, 2023.

On Feb. 12, law enforcement was called to an Iron County residence that reported hearing popping sounds consistent with gunshots. The homeowners found multiple bullet holes in the home.

Law enforcement deputies found 11 shell casings at the scene.

On Feb. 28, the same homeowners notified authorities of hearing additional gunshots at 1:43 a.m. Seven shell casings were found.

Roughly 10 minutes later, a deputy with the Iron County Sheriff’s Office noticed a vehicle run a stop sign in the same area. The vehicle, a 2011 black Jeep Grand Cherokee, was stopped by authorities in the area of 1500 N. Airport Road.

The six people were inside the vehicle, along with two firearms. The news release states the weapons “appeared to match the shell casings from the scene.”

All six people were detained and questioned. During the interview, they admitted to police that they were responsible for the shots fired in the area, according to the press release.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office says the following charges are under review: multiple counts of illegal discharge of a weapon with gang enhancement, possession of a controlled substance, paraphernalia, and illegal consumption and possession of alcohol.

The investigation is ongoing.
