SALT LAKE CITY — As Kaysville, Utah and Salt Lake City officials work to manage flooding in their respective areas, places like North Ogden and Bountiful are still working against flooding that started overnight.

North Ogden

In North Ogden, residents are asked to avoid Mountain Road and Fruitland Drive because of run off. In a Facebook posting, the city says crews are on scene trying to get the situation under control.

People rallied overnight to help clear flooding near the Douglas Street Trailhead. Volunteers got the water flowing back where it should be, in canals and storm drains but there’s still more to be done.

Mark Malan with the North Ogden Cold Water Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints said the water is coming from Donner Canyon Creek.

“We’ve been sandbagging throughout the night, trying to keep it in check, but it’s starting to breach.”

Malan said that so far, they aren’t hearing of any damage to homes, but says they have run out of sandbags and are having to get more from Ogden proper.

Elsewhere in North Ogden, a backhoe is surrounded by rushing floodwater along Mountain Road. North Ogden resident Peggy Wallace told KSL NewsRadio that the backhoe had been there for a couple of days to prevent flooding.

Without the backhoe, crews are left to work with rakes.

A creek in the area that flows from Gardner Canyon is swollen with debris, mud and snowmelt.

Bountiful

In Bountiful, around 40 people gathered Tuesday night to help divert strong flowing water with bits of debris in it. People nearby initially thought this was a water main break, but it turned out to be an overflow from the spillway.

Volunteers worked to get the water flowing in the right places before it hit any homes.

Heber

Sgt. Joshua Weishar with Heber City Police Department told KSL that flooding has affected houses up against the hills. Two to three houses have had flooding in their basements and garages, but the city has not evacuated anyone yet.

The city has provided residents with sandbags to help keep water away from basements and garages.

Morgan County

Morgan County officials reported that flooding threatened nine homes. While crews were able to mitigate any major damage to the houses, Morgan County Fire and Emergency Services expect a continuing impact from flooding.
