Summer Water Safety

SALT LAKE CITY —  Some Utah reservoirs are already full, and residents and visitors are ready to enjoy another aspect of the state’s record-breaking snowfall in the form of water recreation.

There are dozens of lakes, rivers, streams and swimming pools that await Utah families this summer. From boating and fishing to river rafting and simple pleasures like taking a meal to the mountains and sitting near a river, water is going to be a big part of our summer plans.

And along with the joy that comes from jumping into a cool body of water is the need for water safety. Utah water managers have been telling us since mid-April that water is cold and moving fast. But even when it warms up, and moves a little more slowly, there are still a multitude of ways that you can keep yourself, your family, and your pets, safe.

KSL NewsRadio and the Utah Department of Natural Resources present this two-hour special on what to watch out for and what to know to stay safe in the water this summer.
