SALT LAKE CITY – Not everyone has easy access to a gym. Sometimes you might even not want to go to the gym. That’s what makes home workouts such a great alternative.

In the latest Let’s Get Moving with Maria podcast episode, Maria Shilaos spoke with Amy Hackamack, Fitness Trainer, Certified Nutritionist, and Author of the Fit and Well blog, to learn how home workouts can be just as beneficial to our health as gym workouts.

Here's how you can benefit from home workouts…
18 minutes

Home workouts can be for anyone and everyone. It’s an easy and comfortable way to get some exercise in.

“I think it can help people save money and time,” Hakamack said. “You might have to have a small investment up front if you need some equipment, but really anyone can get started with just your own body weight.”

It also pushes your mind to stop giving excuses for not exercising. You might say, “I don’t have a gym membership,” or “I don’t have time to go to the gym.” If this is something you struggle with, keep reminding yourself that home workouts are an option.

The main issue that people have with working out at home is accountability. Hackamack says you can easily work around that.

“There’s so many fun fitness challenges out there … Even just telling your friends and family about your goals and asking them to check up on you can be really effective,” she said.

For those who have never tried a home workout routine but want to start getting into it, Hackamack advises figuring out your goals first.
