SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced new site locations for temples in Lehi, and West Jordan, Utah on Monday.

The Lehi temple, the city’s first, will be located on the northwest intersection of 3950 North and Center Street.

The West Jordan temple, which is also the city’s first, will be built near 7148 South, west of Highway 111.

The church just recently announced the new Lehi and West Jordan temples during its April General Conference.

Both sites will also feature a new meetinghouse alongside the temple.

The state of Utah currently has 18 operating temples of the Church, with nine under construction or renovation. The church has scheduled dedications for another two temples, located in Layton and Taylorsville, for later this year.

The church included this statement with the announcement:

Latter-day Saints consider temples to be the house of the Lord and the most sacred places of worship on the earth. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church to receive peace, inspiration, and spiritual power as they enter into sacred agreements with God in His holy house.

Alongside the announcement of the Lehi and West Jordan sites, the church announced the location change of a new temple in Tampa, Florida.

The church said it now planned to build the Tampa temple on Camden Fields Parkway in Riverview.
