More books banned from schools across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — More books are now banned from all schools across Utah.
A law passed last year bans 13 more books in Utah today.
The new law says if at least three school districts found a book had “objective sensitive material,” it would be banned.
The law defines “objective sensitive material” as an “instructional material that constitutes pornographic or indecent material.”
The law officially went into effect July 1.
Today the Utah State Board of Education published the full list of books containing “objective sensitive material.”
Students returning to school in a couple of weeks won’t be seeing any of these titles on library shelves.
The list includes “Forever” by Judy Blume, “What Girls are made of” by Elana Arnold and several others by author Sarah J. Mass.
Many of Sarah J. Mass books were banned in more districts than needed to meet the threshold, including Alpine, Davis, Jordan, Nebo and Washington School Districts.
