1 dead, multiple I-15 lanes closed near Point of the Mountain after crash

BLUFFDALE — A fatal crash on I-15 near Point of the Mountain closed multiple northbound lanes of traffic Thursday afternoon.
The crash occurred near milepost 286 (16200 South) at 11:56 a.m., according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
One of the vehicles involved in the Point of the Mountain crash was an SUV that rolled; its driver died at the scene, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. Details about other injuries or a cause for the crash were not immediately available.
Point of the Mountain crash caused hours-long delays
The four righthand lanes were still closed as of 1 p.m., leaving two lanes open to traffic. Troopers were on scene investigating the crash.
“Early estimates of approximately three hours for this investigation and cleanup,” UHP said.
By 6 p.m. on Thursday, troopers had opened all lanes of traffic.
