SALT LAKE CITY — The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a severed human foot that was found at Fish Lake on the evening of Friday, May 16.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan J. Curtis, the foot was discovered by a man walking his dog along the Fish Lake shoreline.
In an email statement, Curtis said the man noticed his dog picking up a shoe on the shoreline. When he took a closer look at it, the man noticed what appeared to be a bone inside the shoe.
Due to the foot being found late in the day, a search and rescue crew began investigating the following morning. Curtis said no evidence was found indicating where the foot may have come from.
The foot was taken to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office.
At this time, authorities are investigating the possibility that the foot may belong to David M. White, a fisherman who went missing at Fish Lake in September 1997. Curtis said they have contacted White’s child to get a DNA sample for comparison. Results are pending.
