MOUNTAIN GREEN — A glider crashed into Mahogany Mountain above Bohmann Ranch in Mountain Green at about 2 p.m. on Friday, killing the pilot and sparking a fire at about 7,000 feet up.

County Fire Warden Dave Vickers had called for a full wildland fire response, which brought help from all area agencies.

Just as crews thought they were through, an emergency vehicle got hung on a rock on the way down, blowing a tire and suffering undercarriage damage. It took several hours to tow the brush-truck down the mountain.

Firefighters finally called it a day at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
