St. George resident assaulted by man in a Dragon Ball Z shirt, according to police

ST. GEORGE, Utah — St. George Police Department responded Thursday to a reported random assault carried out by a suspect in a Dragon Ball Z shirt.
According to police, the assault happened at 368 S. Mall Drive. Upon arrival, Officer Casen Loria spoke with the victim who said an unknown man, wearing a Dragon Ball Z shirt, unexpectedly entered his home. He entered without permission and began to speak with the victim. The affidavit describes the suspect as a white male with long hair, and about five feet 10 inches in height.
“The victim stated he did not know the suspect,” Loria said in the affidavit. “After the victim stated he was not welcome and he needed to leave, he stated he began guiding the suspect out of the residence.”
At this point, the suspect began to hit the victim in the face, causing them both to fall to the floor. Officer Loria said that he could see the victim had a bloody nose where he was struck.
Officer Loria said the suspect had assaulted another person in the home. The second victim attempted to stop the first assault but was unsuccessful. After this, the suspect began to assault the second victim, leaving him with multiple facial injuries.
“I observed victim [number two’s] nose was dislodged and broken in at least one place,” Loria said. “I observed his right eyebrow to have a half-inch laceration. The victim stated it was from the suspect punching him in the face.”
The second victim was taken to St. George Regional Hospital for his injuries.
The suspect and charges
The probable cause statement identifies the suspect as Braden Holmes. Holmes was arrested and booked on burglary and assault charges.
According to the statement, Holmes has had previous run-ins with the St. George Police Department.
On June 4, 2022, he was arrested for verbally threatening someone, telling them, “I’m going to kill you.”
Holmes was also arrested on March 19, 2022, for intoxication and interfering with an arrest. According to the affidavit, he “became apprehensive and belligerent with law enforcement.”
Additionally, Holmes resisted arrest on April 12, 2022, when his neighbors called the police.
