Summit County pushing to vaccinate teenagers next week

PARK CITY, UTAH — The Summit County Health Department wants to vaccinate its teenagers this coming Monday, April 19.
A clinic for 16- and 17-year-olds in the county is being held Monday, where only the Pfizer vaccine will be given. It will be held at the Eccles Center at Park City High School from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“Even though it’s being held at the High School in Park City, it’s open to North Summit and South Summit students,” said Dr. Wing Province, Park City Hospital medical director.
Dr. Province and Intermountain Healthcare held a virtual meeting Friday to answer parents’ questions on vaccines. He said once teens are vaccinated, their lives could look a little more normal.
“A lot of high school kids right now are also having to get tested once a week for sports,” Province said. “Once they’re vaccinated, fully vaccinated that is, they won’t have to do that anymore.”
Dr. Province also dispelled some common myths about the vaccines, assuring they are safe with no data showing they cause infertility, and that they don’t contain a microchip in them.

The clinic is a partnership from Summit County Health Department and Nomi Health.
