SALT LAKE CITY —  The Clark Planetarium is taking steps to increase accessibility to its exhibits and programs.

According to a press release, the Planetarium is collaborating with two organizations to make space exploration and science accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities and economic status.

Museums for All  offers discounted prices on admission and the non-profit KultureCity creates “sensory-inclusive experiences for individuals with sensory needs.”

Financial accessibility

For individuals and families receiving SNAP benefits, Clark Planetarium is offering $3 admission to films in the Northrop Grumman and Hansen Dome Theatres through the Museums for All program.

Tickets for both theaters normally run $8.62 for children and $10.78 for adults.

Sensory accessibility

According to the press release, as part of Clark Planetarium’s sensory-inclusive initiative, the planetarium will provide sensory-friendly bags with items provided by KultureCity.

The bags include noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and items to benefit sensory-sensitive guests.

“Accessibility and inclusivity are core values at Clark Planetarium. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the wonder of science and space exploration,” said Duke Johnson, Director of Clark Planetarium in the release.

“By partnering with Museums for All and KultureCity, we are expanding our reach. And, we are making sure that Clark Planetarium is welcoming and accommodating to individuals of all abilities and backgrounds.”
