SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a three-alarm structure fire at 1518 S. and Main Street in the Liberty Wells neighborhood Tuesday morning.
According to fire officials, smoke billowed from the La Rana Mexican Snacks Factory, formerly the New Golden Dragon restaurant.
“It (the building) had about a dozen employees inside,” said Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Brandt Hancuff. “They were all able to self-evacuate and none of them sustained injuries.”
We are blocking traffic on Main Street in between Cleveland Avenue and Bryan Avenue for a working commercial fire at the old Golden Dragon restaurant, located near 1500 South Main.
Please avoid the area.

Efforts to control the blaze were still underway as of 9 a.m.
Main Street is reportedly blocked in both directions as crews fight to put out the fire. Alternatives such as State Street or West Temple are recommended near 1500 S.
The cause of the fire is unknow but an investigation will take place after the fire is out. According to Hancuff, it will likely take quite awhile to knock the fire down and it will probably need monitoring through the night.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
