PROVO — Multiple government buildings in Provo remained closed on Tuesday after police cleared a bomb threat.

Utah County Communications Manager Richard Piatt said a county employee received a phone call from a man who claimed there was a bomb in the parking structure near the office building.

“The caller stated he was watching the area,” Piatt said. “Intended to harm county employees, and that the device would detonate in 34 minutes.”

Provo police evacuated 200 employees out of the Utah County buildings at 100 East Center St.

Utah County said that police searched its courthouse, health and justice, and administration buildings.

Upon investigation, bomb squad officers moved in and began sweeping the complex. No threat of a bomb was found.

As a precaution, the complex remained closed to the public.

“The County Commission Office extends its sincere gratitude to the Provo Police Department and the Utah County Sheriff’s Office for their swift and professional response during this unsettling incident,” Piatt said
