HURRICANE, Utah — Police say a woman has discovered child sexual abuse material in her ex-husband’s laptop.
According to the probable cause statement, Brenda Gillette notified the Hurricane Police Department on Oct. 11, 2024 that she “obtained her ex-husband’s laptop computer after he failed to come and pick it up.”
Mitchell Wendt Gillette, the defendant and Brenda’s ex-husband, had 30 to 65 days to pick it up.
Brenda claimed she was going to use the laptop for Medicaid for her daughter’s Social Security. When she turned it on, the wallpaper was a photo of her and her ex-husband together. When she tried to change the wallpaper with a different photo, she noticed several “suspicious images.”
Brenda handed the laptop over to the Hurricane Police Department, who then took it the Utah Tech Computer Forensic Lab.
Mitchell was arrested on Dec. 11, 2024 for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
