CLEARFIELD, Utah — A 35-year-old man is dead after a fatal auto-ped crash on Southbound I-15 in Clearfield, says Utah Highway Patrol.
Sgt. Rick Shrader of UHP said it looked like the man may have been trying to change a tire on his blue pickup truck. The truck was in the HOV lane on Southbound I-15 just past the on-ramp at 700 South.
According to UHP, he got out of his truck and stood in the narrow shoulder area. It was dark, so cars couldn’t see until it was too late and swerved to get out of the way. One car swerved to the right and one swerved to the left, hitting the man in the shoulder.
The man died on the scene. No one else was injured.
Sgt. Shrader said the victim identified as a Hispanic male, but the name has not yet been released.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
