Public health alert issued for HelloFresh ground beef

WASHINGTON — The Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert following concerns that HelloFresh‘s ground beef products may be contaminated with Escherichia coli, or E. coli.
In a statement, the FSIS says the meal kits containing the affected ground beef were sent to consumers from July 2 to July 21, 2022.
The affected products are packaged in a 10-ounce vacuum-packed bag. The package’s label reads “GROUND BEEF 85% LEAN/15% FAT,” according to FSIS. Additionally, the packages have “EST. 46841” written inside the USDA mark of inspection and on the plastic of the package.

A recall on the products has not been issued, as they are no longer available for purchase.
Various agencies including the FSIS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state public health partners are currently investigating the E. Coli outbreak.
Those who think they may have a contaminated ground beef product from HelloFresh may call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854. Additionally, consumers may reach out to a USDA live chat via Ask USDA. The chat is active Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
