12-year-old girl dies from injuries related to a September multi-car crash

SALT LAKE CITY — A 12-year-old girl has died from injuries sustained in a car accident on Sept. 24 according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
A press released said that the SLCPD Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Team are investigating the crash. The accident involved six cars an happened in the Ballpark neighborhood.
The 12-year-old girl was taken to the hospital but later died. The SLCPD stated they learned about her death this week and needed to take the appropriate steps to confirm the information. However, her name is not being released at this time.
The multi-car crash that killed 12-year-old-girl
According to police a preliminary investigation showed that five vehicles were stopped for a red light at 300 West and 1700 South. Then, a small SUV did not slow down while approaching the light. The SUV crashed into the back of a car, causing a chain reaction crash.
All drivers remained on scene and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
