Canadian crash leaves Kaysville family grieving

KAYSVILLE, Utah — A Kaysville family is grieving after a father was killed and a son seriously injured while on a trip in Canada.
A head-on car crash in Nova Scotia, last Saturday claimed the life of a Kaysville man and two Canadian teenagers. Nick Gruniger said his father and brother were on a golfing trip in with some friends.
Around 5 a.m. two teens driving a Honda Civic collided with a Ford F-150 going in the opposite direction according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Randy Grunniger, 68 and his son, 38-year-old Randon Grunniger from Kaysville were in the Ford. The 71-year-old passenger had life-threatening injuries and died at the hospital. The two unidentified teens were also killed.
The accident happened on Route 19, a road considered a high traffic area. Crashes are not uncommon.
“It’s extremely heartbreaking. There’s part grief. There’s some anger. We’re good people. We are just living good lives, ” said Nick Gruniger told KSL TV.
Randon Grunniger is currently in the ICU.
“The suddenness and unexpectedness of it all just makes it hard to comprehend,” said Nick Gruniger.
