SALT LAKE CITY — A former Utahn responsible for killing two of his classmates and nearly killing another by disguising fentanyl as oxycodone will serve prison time.
Back when Colin Shapard, 23, was just a teenager, he was found responsible for killing two Park City 13-year-olds. Shapard had sold them what they thought was oxycodone. However, he didn’t serve prison time. He then moved to Nevada where he continued his scheme.
“In the 10 years that I’ve been prosecuting cases like this, I think Mr. Shapard is probably one of the most dangerous individuals that I have ever encountered,” said Serena Whistler with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Another Park City resident reported receiving pills from Shapard in 2021 and authorities found multiple illegal shipments at his Las Vegas home. Now, Shapard will serve 20 years in prison followed by 36 months of supervised release.
