SALT LAKE CITY — A house fire Tuesday afternoon has displaced a family of six.
According to Dan Walker, battalion chief with Salt Lake City Fire Department, a call came in of a fire at 1007 S. Montgomery Street at 4:54 p.m.
He says the family members could see and smell smoke coming from under a bedroom doorway.
“They did the right thing, they called 911,” he said.
Walker says the fire was limited to the one bedroom. He says it took 20 firefighters about 15 minutes to put the fire out.
The estimated damage from the fire is roughly between $15,000 and $20,000. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
The displaced family members are staying with other family members in the area.
