Police confirm no threat after U.S. Bank tower evacuation

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police Department has determined a suspicious item does not pose a threat after aiding with the evacuation of the U.S. Bank tower in Salt Lake City.

We have determined the suspicious item does not pose any threat.

We are releasing resources on scene, but that process may take between 60-90 minutes.

We are asking people to continue avoiding the area.

The post on X comes after SLCPD also said they were investigating a suspicious circumstance near 20 West and 200 South earlier on Monday. They said the Hazardous Devices Unit, HDU, was responding to help investigate. 

SLCPD said that northbound traffic on West Temple Street is closed between 200 and 300 South. They have asked the public to avoid the area. 

The Utah Transit Authority alerted passengers that the investigation was causing TRAX delays.

As of 1:15 p.m., the UTA said the Blue and Green lines from the Courthouse and City Center stations had delays of up to 20 minutes in both directions. The UTA has a bus bridge between those two stations in place.
