KAYSVILLE, Utah — A vehicle that was unable to maintain proper lane travel became the target of a vehicle pursuit.
According to Lt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol, a Kaysville officer tried to conduct a traffic stop when a suspect drove away from police after hitting several other vehicles and the center cement barrier.
A nearby UHP trooper took over the pursuit and successfully conducted a PIT maneuver due to slow traffic.
Troopers and the Kaysville officer attempted to pull the driver over, said Roden. However, the driver failed to respond to commands and drove off, striking the UHP patrol vehicle.
Roden said the driver then took the northbound Antelope Drive off-ramp and T-boned a westbound vehicle, ending the pursuit. No injuries were reported.
A medical checkup showed that the driver had no medical concerns, but the UHP said a DUI investigation showed impairment.
Roden said the driver will be booked for driving under the influence, evading, and several other violations.
